The topic of the evening’s presentation is:

 

TRIZ, An Inventive Approach to Problem Solving

 

Presentation Overview:

TRIZ Basics and One Company's Experiences.  This presentation will provide an overview of the basics of TRIZ and how it can be used in business and personal situations to arrive at "Inventive Solutions".  Real world examples and the results from one company's efforts and experiences to date in implementing this tool will be presented, followed by a question and answer session.

 

About the Speakers:

John Borza is currently the Director of Value Engineering at TRW Automotive.  He joined TRW in 1976, and has held a variety of engineering positions in the Steering & Suspension Division, including Director of Value Engineering, Steering & Suspension, Global Engineering Director for Rack & Pinion Steering; Director of Steering Systems and Applications Engineering; Chief Engineer, Steering Systems; and Manager, R&D.  John holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.  He holds a Professional Engineer License from the State of Michigan, is a Pretium certified TRIZ Master Black Belt, a SAVE International certified Associate Value Specialist and President of the Greater Michigan Chapter of SAVE International.

 

Rick Gour graduated Cum Laude from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.  Rick began his career as an Industrial Engineer with Morton Thiokol, and continued his Aerospace experience with Hughes Aircraft Company as a Manufacturing Engineer and Program Manager.  He has held positions of increasing responsibility, working on a variety of projects in the Aerospace and Automotive industries.  Rick is currently Manager of Value Engineering for TRW Automotive, where he is focusing on implementing Value Engineering on future products.  Rick is a Six Sigma Black Belt, a Pretium Certified TRIZ Master Black Belt, a SAVE International certified Associate Value Specialist, and Director of Communications for the Greater Michigan Chapter of SAVE International.
