Eastern Michigan University APICS Student Chapter - News and Accomplishments
5/15/2019
At APICS Greater Detroit, everything we do centers on inspiring and growing Supply Chain Professionals in the Detroit area – at all levels of their careers. We are on a mission to help both professionals and students.
As part of this effort, we are proud to partner with the Eastern Michigan University Student APICS Chapter and share their update below highlighting their news and accomplishments from this past school year.
Per Nathaniel Israilov the current President, "The last two semesters with the APICS EMU student chapter have been wonderful. During that time the chapter has focused on networking and learning from professionals in the industry."
Highlights from the different events are below.
- Freudenberg NOK hosted the chapter at their Plymouth location. The VP of Purchasing presented their daily challenges, where they source from, and other company specific purchasing variables. We also went on a tour and they explained their sealing techniques.
- The chapter hosted MMI Engineered Solutions at the College of Business building. Two purchasers and their head of Human Resources presented to us and told us about their operations.
- The chapter hosted an Enterprise Software Account Executive to speak with us about how his technology helps meet customers' needs.
- We toured a warehouse/distribution center in Wixom, MI with a company called Thin Blue Line USA. The Founder showed us the processes he put in place from an order ticket to all the shipment being picked up by UPS. He went over the software he uses for the 3,000 SKUs he has to manage.
The chapter did quite a lot with job fairs and they are looking forward to continuing the growth and development of this student chapter in the fall. They grew membership over the past year from 7 to 42 members!
Congratulations Nathaniel and to all the student chapter members on a successful year!

At your APICS Greater Detroit Chapter, a key part of our mission is to spark students' interest in supply chain methodologies through case competitions, internships, resume reviews, mentoring, and more to help support the workforce of the future.
The APICS Student Chapter Management Program is designed as a management tool for student chapters that are seeking to improve their processes, products, and services. It encourages the operation of a well-managed chapter that is properly balanced and effective in meeting its student member needs.
